How to Recycle Plastic Bottles and Jugs

 

The plastic bottles and jugs in your kitchen and bathroom, usually holding things like beverages or soap, can be recycled. To get them ready, empty them out, and if they’re sticky, give them a quick rinse. It might be tempting to skip this, but don’t. Liquid adds weight that may cause sorting machines to send unemptied containers to the wrong place. Plus, spills can ruin other recyclables and attract unwelcome pests.

 

Labels and caps are usually welcome in recycling, though, so don’t stress those labels. And recycle your caps! Make sure they’re screwed tightly on (check locally to verify).
